Small spaces don’t need to cramp your style. Here are more of my simple suggestions for making a small space look and feel larger than it really is

Size Matters

The visual size of objects in relation to one another is important. A small space can quickly become crowded and cluttered by even one oversized couch. Instead, pair a side chair or two with a smaller sofa.

Sexy Legs

Choosing furniture with long legs is also another space enhancing trick, as the legs allow light to travel beneath the piece and you see more of the floor. The result is a lighter brighter room with a piece of furniture that doesn’t seem so ‘heavy’

Think Vertical

Vertical real estate is often overlooked. Make the most of your wall space to not only maximise storage but also free up valuable floor space. Think tall bookcases and chic shelving

Keep Your Colours in Check

Too many colours in a small space can look cluttered. Stick with light muted natural colours to keep the room looking spacious and use your accessories such as cushions and decor to add a pop of colour. White can work well in small spaces, but be careful with stark white, since it can make any size bedroom feel cold. Soft tones of cream, butter or ivory are good choices, as are whites with a touch of grey, green, blue or even pink.

Round It Up

Furniture with rounded edges not only take up less space, but you’re not going to hurt yourself while moving around the room (and it’s also child friendly and good Feng Shui but that’s another story)

I said it in part one, but it’s super important so I’ll say it again – Opt for pieces that serve more than one purpose such as beds with under bed storage drawers, nesting tables and coffee tables and ottomans with hidden storage
